The type of forests, soil quality, altitude, and general climatic conditions seem to favor the fruiting of this unique underground fungus. Significant quantities of Tuber aestivum, Tuber uncinatum have already been identified, with smaller amounts of Tuber brumale, Tuber borchii, and others. This fact makes the area particularly suitable for the development of truffle hunting.
Additionally, the fact that it can be combined with the Mushroom Museum, one of the few in Europe, makes this activity unique not only in Greece but also on a pan-European level. The combination of the museum experience, contact with nature, and gastronomy provides a strong motivation for a journey where knowledge and entertainment coexist, enriched with unique flavors and aromas.
Whether you’re a nature lover, a foodie, or simply curious, Meteora invites you to dive into a world where learning meets flavor – all year round. Truffle Hunting at Meteora isn’t just an activity. It’s a destination!
