Detailed Itinerary
Horseback Ride through the Forest
The adventure begins with a unique ride through nature, alongside Cookie, Dorita, Clio, Daisy, the other horses, and their experienced guides. After a short introduction to the route and safety rules, you put on your helmet and off we go!
The path takes you into a lush green forest, full of scents, colors, and the sounds of nature. As you ride along the trails, you learn about the lives of the horses and their special bond with humans.
The majestic Meteora rocks create a truly magical backdrop.
Children up to 7 years old ride together with an instructor, while older children enjoy the ride accompanied by a guide.
Truffle Hunting
Next, our truffle hunter and his specially trained dogs – Benfra, Charlie, or Lara – guide you into the magic of discovery: the treasure of the forest, the truffle! The dogs detect the scent, dig into the earth, and reveal the hidden delicacy.
Throughout the process, you’ll learn fascinating details about truffles: their role in the ecosystem, their value, their use in gastronomy, and the training of truffle dogs.
Mushroom Tasting
After the horseback ride and truffle hunt, a culinary journey awaits you. Dishes with mushrooms – from the Museum’s own products – are ready for you to taste!
The tasting is accompanied by fine wine, refreshing drinks, and, of course, cool water.
The Grand Finale: Truffle Pasta
As you enjoy the mushroom delicacies, the truffle pasta is being prepared right in front of you. One (or more) of the Museum’s chefs begins to cook in a large pot capable of serving dozens of visitors.
The aromas of wild mushrooms and freshly gathered truffles fill the air, creating an unforgettable gastronomic experience.
The horses remain nearby – gentle companions, ready for play, caresses, and photos.
Dessert
The culinary journey ends with a true Greek innovation: mushroom spoon sweet! An unexpected surprise, with a flavor you’ll never forget.
The Museum
The adventure concludes with a guided tour of the Natural History Museum of Meteora and Mushroom Museum. Here, the staff introduces you to the Museum’s collections, featuring more than 350 animal species and over 250 mushroom species. You’ll discover the world of fungi – their role in the environment, myths and traditions, and their biological and nutritional value. A world unknown to many unfolds before your eyes.
Before you leave, the Museum’s shop invites you to take a piece of the experience with you: mushroom and truffle products created by the Museum, as well as unique souvenirs for you and your loved ones.
